Neighbor Connection: Residents are encouraged to join Nextdoor, a free on-line networking tool that encourages neighborhood conversations. It can be used for home-service referrals, lost pets, yard sales and safety concerns. Nextdoor is designed to keep information specific to each of the 13 neighborhoods in Brea. On-Demand Transportation: The city’s on-demand transportation has been suspended because of a lack of use. The program was funded by a South Coast Air Quality Management District grant and was primarily used by senior citizens.
Parking Permits: Overnight parking permits for the city are available for purchase either online or at city offices. Annual permits are $18 if ordered online and $20 in person. Daily permits, such as for a visiting friend or relative, are free. In Brea, cars without permits can’t park on city streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. Information: 714.990.7689.

Business Help: The Orange County Small Business Development Center is offering free, one-on-one consulting for businesses through the Brea Chamber of Commerce. J.J. Richa is doing the consulting. Appointments can be scheduled at 657.859.9722.
Farmer’s Market: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays on Birch Street, between Madrona Avenue and Walnut Avenue. Local farmers from around the region bring to Birch Street a variety of fresh grown produce and flowers. Local crafters join with a wide variety of unique crafts and specialty items.

Keeping Fit: The Silver Sneakers fitness program has classes at the Brea Community Center at 10:30 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 1:15 p.m. Fridays. The exercises are geared toward increasing muscular strength and range of movement. Information: 714.990.7100 or BreaFitness.com.
Counseling Services: Specialists at the Brea Family Resource Center are offering short-term, confidential counseling services to Brea residents at 695 E, Madison Way. Medi-Cal/Food Stamps: Brea’s Family Resource Center holds a Medi-Cal and food stamps outstation every Wednesday at the Community Center from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Appointments are required.
