College Swap Meet: Orange Coast College hosts a swap meet every Saturday and Sunday on campus from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Adams Avenue parking lot. The meet features used items as well as new merchandise, produce, fresh flowers and crafts. Proceeds support the college’s credit program. Admission and parking are free. Meet the Mayor: Mayor Jim Righeimer will continue his series of informal events on the last Thursday of each month. He will take questions from residents at the Tower on 19th (formerly known as Bethel Towers), 678 W. 19th St., from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Orchid Society: The Newport Harbor Orchid Society meetings feature classes, talks and unique orchids. It meets every third Tuesday of the month from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Ave. Meetings are free. Information: 714.759.1464 or NHOS.org.

Hazardous Waste: The Costa Mesa Sanitary District is offering free door-to-door household hazardous waste collection for seniors and immobile residents. To qualify, residents must be 62 or older or have a certified disability. Information: 949.646.4617 or cmsdca.gov.
