Boaters Association Liaison ProgramThis program’s purpose is to help Dana Point boaters and harbor users better resolve issues such as the harbor revitalization or dock maintenance. Members will meet montly with harbor department officials to discuss the issues. Information: danapointboaters.org

Safe Meds Disposal: Bring unused and expired medications to Dana Point Police Services Safe Medication Drop-off box at 33282 Golden Lantern, Suite 140. It is available Monday, Wednesday and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Drop-off is free and anonymous.

Harbor Happenings: Want to learn what the next steps entail in the harbor renovation plan? Go to egov.ocgov.com/ocgov to learn more about renovations planned for the harbor. 

Library Group: The Friends of the Dana Point Library provide special programming and help staff the bookstore at the library. Membership is available for $15 annually; applications are available at the library and can be submitted to its service desks or the bookstore.

Dana Point / Tile Wall: The Dana Point Historical Society is offering residents the chance to mount their art on a tile wall at Baby Beach. For a $50 donation, Fired Up in San Clemente will help you paint and fire a tile to be mounted on the wall. Information: 949.248.8121.

Arts Updates: The Dana Point Arts and Culture Commission will provide email updates as part of the city’s eNews information service. Subscribe at www.danapoint.org under the “City News” listing.

Scenes Around Town. A Driving Tour of Dana Point brochure can be obtained from the Dana Point Historical Society and from big businesses in town, including the four large hotels, Dana Point Harbor, the Ocean Institute and the Chamber of Commerce. Farmer’s Market: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at La Paz Center, Pacific Coast Highway, just north of Golden Lantern. Information: 949.573.5033. Craft Fair is on 1st Saturday of the month at the same location.

Headlands Walking Tour: 1st Saturday of every month, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Docent-led tour of Dana Point preserve, Hilltop Park and Harbor Point Park, 1.5 miles. Limit of 10. Register at Nature Center or call 949.542.4755.

Free Fishing: Every Sunday from noon to 12:30, kids are invited to Dana Wharf, 34675 Golden Lantern, to learn fishing techniques and hook-tying and win raffle prizes during a free kids fishing clinic. No reservations needed. Information: 949.496.5794.

Tech Help: Are you fumbling with your cell phone or e-reader? From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Wednesday, a table is set up at Dana Point Public Library, 33841 Niguel Road, with a volunteer to help people needing tech help. The volunteer can show you how to send a picture or download an application for your smartphone. Information: 949.496.5517.

VFW Services & Benefit Seminar Veterans: Learn about services and benefits available. Hosted by VFW Post 9934. Held the first Tuesday of the month, 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Dana Point Community Center, 34052 Del Obispo St. Information: 949.275.3142 or www. vfwpost9934.org.

Business Mixer: The Dana Point Chamber of Commerce hosts its monthly “3rd Thursday” mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  at various area locations. The event is an opportunity for participants to make new business contacts. Information: 949.496.1555.
