Farmer’s Market: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays at Katella Avenue and Pine Street.
Senior Transport: Seniors can get a ride to appointments as part of the city’s free services. Rides are provided to non-emergency medical appointments including the dentist, therapist or pharmacy. Residents must be at least 60 years old and can fill out an application at the Community Center, 10911 Oak St. Information: 714.891.9500.
Senior Club: The Los Alamitos Senior Club is open every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Community Center, 10911 Oak St. Bingo starts at 1 p.m. The membership fee is $10. Guests may visit twice before paying membership. Information: cityoflosalamitos.org.
Senior Activities: Free senior activities are offered during the week at the Youth Center at 10909 Oak St. from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Bingo is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and card games are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Karaoke Night: The Starting Gate will hosts a weekly karaoke night at 7 p.m. Mondays. The restaurant is at 5052 Katella Ave. Information: 562.598.8957.
Line Dancing: The Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department is offering line dancing for residents age 18 and up. Bookstore: The Friends of the Library group runs a bookstore to benefit programs and services at the Los Alamitos Rossmoor Library. The store is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The bookstore books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and audio books. The library is at 12700 Montecito Rd.
Legal Aid: Free legal services are provided to seniors the second Thursday of every month at Community Center, 10911 Oak St. from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Appointments are required. Information: 562.430.1073.
Food Trucks: Locals have two days each week to enjoy food trucks: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the U.S. Bank parking lot at 10942 Pine St. Food trucks are also at 11011 Winners Circle St. every Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Information: TheFoodTrucker.com.
Vacation Checks: Rossmoor homes are elligible for free vacation checks by the county’s Sheriff’s Department. Officers check for signs of forced entry and encourage mail to be picked up by neighbors. To schedule checks, call 714.647.7000.
Picnic at the Plaza: A fast-food event at the St. Isidore Historical Plaza, has been extended indefinitely. Residents can find a variety of local food trucks along with beer and wine for sale from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday in the US Bank parking lot at 10942 Pine St. The beer-and-wine garden and picnic tables are next door in the plaza.
Food Bank: A free pantry at the Joint Forces Training Base is open for soldiers, families and veterans. Operation Cuppa Joe is offering a variety of food for those in need including cereal, bread and fresh vegetables and fruit. The program is run by Students Supporting Our Troops. Memorial Bricks: Memorial bricks to be laid at the St. Isidore Historical Plaza are being sold to raise money for the plaza. Bricks can be inscribed, and the cost starts at $75. Information: 562.596.9918.
Senior Travel: The Los Alamitos Senior Club offers members the chance to go on trips to various places in Southern California throughout the year. Costs vary for each trip. Senior can sign up on Thursdays during the Senior Club meeting, or call 562.496.2606 or 562.596.1896.
Sunday Brunch: The St. Isidore Historical Plaza offers a hot brunch on the first Sunday of every month at 10:30 a.m. The cost is a donation by the participants, and all proceeds go toward the plaza at 10961 Reagan St. Information: 562.596.9918.

Garden Tours: The Rancho Los Alamitos Historic Ranch and Gardens offers free tours and is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The property at 6400 Bixby Hill Road in Long Beach has five acres of gardens and a ranch house built in the 1800s. Information: 562.431.3541.
