Farmer’s Market: A market has been established in the parking lot of “Big Lots” off Avenida de las Banderas, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m Saturdays.

Nature Walk: Join the naturalists on a nature walk and learn about Trabuco Canyon animals and nature. Light to moderate walk on mostly paved roads. Meet at the Nature Center just inside the main entrance of the park. Event is conditional on the weather. Starts at 9 a.m. every Saturday at O’Neill Regional Park, 30892 Trabuco Canyon Road, Trabuco Canyon. $5 per vehicle fee. Information: 949.923.2260.

Home Repair Help: The Bell Tower Foundation is seeking seniors or severely disabled residents who are in need of home repairs and maintenance. The foundation received a grant through the city to handle such repairs. Residents may obtain an application for eligibility by calling 949.216.9700, ext. 254, or going to belltowerfoundation.org.

Pet Vaccinations: The city will open its monthly low-cost pet vaccination clinic 30 minutes earlier for cats only. The clinic is open from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  on the first Wednesday of the month at the Bell Tower Regional Community Center. Cat owners may arrive at 6:30 p.m. No appointment is needed. Calling All Writers: The OC Register is looking for residents to write guest columns for their revamped edition of the community newspaper. Contact Community Editor Kelli Hart Kehler at khart@ocregister.com if you’re interested in writing a 350-400 word column.

Plan Your Month: The city has a monthly electronic newsletter. Find out about upcoming City Council topics, recreation opportunities and the newest business to open in town. To sign up, go to CityofRSM.org.

Volunteers Needed: Age Well Senior Services is looking for weekly volunteer drivers to deliver meals to homebound seniors. Information: Cheri at 949.216.9700 ext. 1271.

Senior Mobility Program: The city in partnership with the Orange County Transportation Authority and California Yellow Cab will help seniors get around town at a more affordable price. The city’s Senior Mobility Program provides transportation to adults 60+ who live in the city. Information: 949.216.9700.

Online Updates: Stay informed on the latest news in the city by following the city’s Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr accounts. The city will post new business openings, recreation class openings, and urgent messages such as planned road closures. Event photos will be on YouTube and Flickr. Resident Input: Want to give input on the City Council’s agenda items and actions? The city’s new E-comments at CityofRSM.org has live or archived meetings. Feedback and input on upcoming meetings will also be available.

Water Efficiency: Local water districts around the county are offering rebates to residents for devices that help conserve water, including high-efficiency washing machines, efficient irrigation systems, rotating sprinkler nozzles and other items. Information: 888.376.3314 or SoCalWaterSmart.com.

Recycle Batteries: Get rid of used batteries at a recycle box at City Hall. Batteries can be placed in the bins during regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Free Health Screening: You can get  a free blood pressure check from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday at the Bell Tower Regional Community Center. The center is at 22232 El Paseo.

Outdoor Group Fitness Classes: Class is designed for each person’s fitness level. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Central Park, 22112 El Paseo. Start any time.  The first class is free. Information: 949.922.3127 or LiveForHealthFitness.com.

Gardening Workshops: Rancho Santa Margarita Water District is hosting free home-gardener workshops to assist is customers in reducing outdoor water usage. Classes are Thursday evenings with slides, hands-on demonstrations and displays. Classes are limited to 50 attendees and are at 26111 Antonio Parkway. Reservations: 949.459.6645.
