Want to Do Good but Don’t Want to be Taken?

We came across a couple of sites which we found very helpful: http://www.charitynavigator.org/

Charity Navigator is ” …America’s premier independent charity evaluator, (and it) works to advance a more efficient and responsive philanthropic marketplace by evaluating the financial health of over 5,500 of America’s largest charities.”

The site takes a lot of the guessing out of giving and it truly does help you navigate (as they suggest!) through the many different opportunities for donating. Visit the site, but here’s their top ten list of some of the various sectors in which you may be interested:

There is also Charity.com http://www.charity.com/index.shtml

Charity.com is a NonProfit portal with charities listings and charity resources. It is quite extensive, covering about 50 categories of charities.
